Session Topics

This year we'll be continuing with lightning talks. Below are some of the suggested topics.  If you are willing to present on one or more of these topics, please email [email protected]. If you have other suggestions, let us know what you would like to chat about!

Integrity Management Track

  • Welcome & introductions
  • Keynote Speaker: W. Kent Muhlbauer
  • Product Development Update: Hear the latest news and plans for product development activities across both product lines at Opvantek
  • Probabilistic Risk
  • Over Pressurization: Come to this lightning round prepared to share how your company has responded to the recent Merrimack Valley incident, specifically focusing on what steps you've taken to assess and mitigate the risk of a similar event occurring on your system. Opvantek will be listening carefully, and will participate in discussion to explore how Optimain DS or IM could be configured or enhanced to appropriately model risk associated with over pressurization.
  • Failure Prediction Effectiveness & Metrics: Share with group the key reports and metrics that you use to evaluate the effectiveness of your Integrity Management or Damage Prevention Programs. Which data do you share with your regulatory agencies, and in what format? How is your program represented on your corporate scoreboards or other internal reports? Do you look at historic risk trends, future risk projections, or current risk only? Opvantek will also demonstrate our concepts for key metrics and reporting from the data generated by Optimain IM and Optimain xDR, using both embedded data discovery tools as well as an external BI platform.
    • Measuring Effectiveness of the Optimain Failure Predictions: In this lightning round, we'll ask users to share interesting reports you've created to:
      • Compare actual leak rates with those predicted by Optimain DS
      • Compare actual damage rates with those predicted by Optimain xDR
  • DS/IM User Council: Email Tyler Fox at [email protected] if you're interested in being one of our council moderators
  • Ask the Opti-Experts: A panel of Optimain DS experts from Opvantek’s Customer Success Team will be on-hand to answer your questions about the product. Go hands-on in your system if you have VPN access (we’ll have the wi-fi) and get direct advice and recommendations from the Opvantek team on how to solve your most pressing or vexing problems. If we can’t figure it out, we’ll at least put it into our product roadmap or follow-up with you after the meeting on customer-specific requirements.
  • IM Design Feedback

Optimain xDR Summit

  • Introduction of Opvantek & Texas 811:  Details and goals of the partnership project.
    • Presentation of how Texas 811 will lead mitigation activities for use of Optimain xDR.  This will include call out and overseeing damage prevention efforts from the call center perspective.
  • xDR Overview & Training
  • Guest Speaker
  • Building a Business Case for Predictive Analytics: In this lightning round, we'll ask each customer to describe the business case you constructed to justify the cost of Optimain xDR, including field resources who are using the results to prevent damage on high risk tickets.
  • How to use Predictive Analytics to Prevent Damages: We're looking for customers who would like to share your experience using Optimain xDR to prevent damages. This can be data driven or anecdotal. What risk mitigation activities work best? Which seem to have little impact (damages still happen)? When is the best time to use the risk score? How do you use the score at each step of the damage prevention process (screening, pre/post-locate, before the work start date, after the work state date)?
  • Risk Factors Panel Discussion: Panel discussion on which risk factors are most important for preventing excavation damage.
